- I am an avid vegetable gardener. We are older parents of a young child and want to pass on our knowledge of gardening, preserving and homesteading to her. Uncertainty of the future has motivated us to learn and teach for her sake.
- What I'm doing about Peak Oil:
- We had geothermal heat installed in our northern Minnesota home. We no longer need oil to heat! We are trying to grow the majority of our family's vegetable needs. We are building hoop houses to extend the season which we hope will extend our very short Minnesota growing season. We are reducing the amount of lawn (previous homeowners mowed 1 full acre of lawn!) by planting native grasses and wildflowers and letting some areas grow wild.
